DEATH OF DAVID K. AGNEW COMES AS A SURPRISE

A TYPHOID VICTIM

Again the Grim reaper visits the home of well-known residents and takes from it a beloved husband and father who for the past four weeks has valiantly battled with the disease of typhoid fever which has been the cause of many sad deaths within the past year, in this city. The many friends of Mr. David K. Agnew will be grieved to learn of his death which occurred at 2 o'clock this morning at his home on Washington Street. Mr. Agnew was taken ill with typhoid fever four weeks ago and was doing nicely until Saturday when at noon he became much worse and the attending physicians informed the family that the end was near.
The deceased was born in Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, March 17, 1870, and spent most of his early life in Philadelphia, being connected with the oldest families there. On October 22, 1896, he was married to Miss Mae Altheilde of Quincy, Ill., and is survived by his mother and father and four brothers of Pennsylvania and his wife and son in this city. Mr. Agnew came to this city three years ago and started the now well-known firm, The Agnew Electric Company. In these three years he gained the confidence of all who knew him and was loved by everyone and the company with which he was connected has lost a most excellent man.
His Father, Mr. N. S. Agnew, of Mercersburg, arrived in the city this morning and shortly after his son had expired. Mrs. Altheilde of Quincy, Ill., arrived yesterday evening. The deceased was a prominent Mason and a Masonic escort will conduct the remains from the house after the ceremony on Washington Street Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock to the C. & O. train No.2, where the remains will be shipped to his old home at Mercersburg. Services will be held there in the Presbyterian Church Wednesday.
The following Masons will act as pall bearers, Mr. Mr. Edwin M. Keatley, Mr. James Kay, Mr. George Thomas, Mr. John L. Dickinson, Mr. Andrew J. Calderwood, Mr. William Carver, Mr. John Wehrle, Mr. Chas. K. Payne and Mr. John Malone.
