Daughter of Olin Elmore and Oleata Ada Murdoch Clamp, wife of Claude Collins Stephens. Gladys was raised in the home of her uncle and aunt, William Joseph Murdoch and Savannah Elizabeth Rogers Murdoch, after the early death of her parents.


GREENVILLE - Gladys Clamp Stevens, 79, of 106 Bleckley Avenue, died July 16, 1994 at her home. She was associated with Carolina Blouse before she retired. She was a member of East Park Baptist Church, where she was the teacher of the Senior Adult Bible Class of the Sunday School and a former member of the choir.

Surviving are two sons, Samuel C. Stevens of Taylors and James E. Stevens of Marion; and a sister, Elma C. Martin of Ware Shoals.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
