Age 96, of Jackson, passed away at Arbor North Assisted Living on September 5, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Clarian (maiden-Klomparens) and his wife of 10 years, Evelyn (nee-Ward); brother, Orville Woodard and his parents, Montie and Ethel (maiden-Laxton) Woodard. He is survived by his son, Donald (Jan) Woodard; two grandchildren, Wendy (John) Waldron and Cari (Kevin) Bushinski; four great-grandchildren, Avery, Drew, Abbie and Aubrey; former daughter-in-law, Linda (Vern) Allen; Evelyn's three children, Jan (Bob) Waldron, Ken (Rosa) Ward and Barb (Ed) Hatch and many step-grand and great-grandchildren. Mr. Woodard served the nation in the US Navy in World War II; retired as a tool and die maker/designer from Clark Equipment; was a dedicated member of the Masonic Order with a Life Membership at Mason Lodge #70, Free and Accepted Masons, the Michigan Center Order of the Eastern Star Fern Leaf Chapter #66, Royal Arch Knights Templar, the Lansing Commandery #25 Knights Templar, the Michigan Knights Commandery and the Jackson York Rite #3; and belonged to the Richard F. Smith American Legion Post #29. For over 50 years he was a member of the Arbor Grove Congregational Church and more recently the Jerome United Methodist Church. Services will be held at the funeral home Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2 pm, with Kevin Ganton and Candy Corser officiating. Interment in Roseland Memorial Gardens will be Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday evening 6-8 pm with Masonic Services at 7:30 pm. Graveside Military Honors will be given by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Contributions in his memory are directed to the charity of your choice or if flowers are preferred, Lewis loved living plants.
