GARTHOFF - Guy H., 85, Geistown, died March 1, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center, Main Campus. Born Feb. 25, 1921, in Juniata, son of the late Jacob and Bessie (Wren) Garthoff. Also preceded in death by brothers, the Rev. James, Emory and Otis; and sister, Permelia. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, the former Edith E. Redmond; children, Dr. Larry H. Garthoff, married to Suzanne Konowicz, Columbia, Md.; Carol A., married to the Rev. Richard Schempp, Lubbock, Texas; Kathy L., married to Chris Nickodemus, Freeland, Mich.; and Jerry L., married to Kelley Conley, Whitefield, Maine; and 10 grandchildren. Guy was a World War II veteran serving as a sergeant in the Marine Corps, then working as a driver for Mobil Corp. until retiring in 1984. He was a former president of the Indiana County PTA, an EMT with Citizens Ambulance Association for 12 years, singing with the Knights of Harmony, and was a member of the Blairsville BPOE, the Richland Senior Citizens. He was a true outdoorsman, spending time at his camp in Clearfield County and being an avid hunter and fisherman. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bethany United Methodist Church, 112 Leventry Road, the Rev. Jeff Vanderhoff officiating. Arrangements by Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills.
