Gerald Lee Robinson, "Jerry", died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at his home in Nottoway, VA following a brief illness.

Born Sept. 12, 1931 in Maynard, Mass., he was the son of William and Hazel Robinson (Baldwin).

He received his undergraduate degree from Lenoir Rhyne University, in Hickory, NC and a Master's degree in Education from Lynchburg College. In his early years, while serving in the Army, Jerry played on the Army All Star Football team, played semi- pro-baseball in Rutherford County, NC, coached football at EC Glass in Lynchburg, and then on to Enka High School in Enka, NC where he led the baseball team to the 1970 State Championship. Later he became the Athletic Director at Appomattox High School, where he coached and taught History. He is in the Sports Hall of Fame at Lenoir Rhyne University, Maynard High School and Enka High School for his personal and professional accomplishments over the years.

After retiring from the public school system, Jerry and Jackie moved to Florida to enjoy the warmer weather and play golf. Jerry was an avid golfer who loved playing with friends or strangers. He loved growing roses, fishing, old western movies, and the Boston Redsox. Jerry loved life! He loved to tell jokes and he had an infectious laugh. He was a kind, humble person and a mentor to many young athletes. He was a great dad, a devoted husband, and a true friend.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline (Clay) Robinson, his daughter Kathryn Williams Lynch and husband Darrel; his son Ronald Robinson and wife Mary; his daughter Terri Robinson; a twin brother Gene Robinson and wife June; 5 grandchildren (Heather Keyes and husband Joey, Jonathan Williams and wife Jamie, Nathan Robinson, Krystal Banner, and Jeff Wallis and wife Mindy); 4 great grandsons (Aiden Williams, Mason Keyes, Liam Keyes, and Charlie Wallis), his poodle Colette, and many friends.
