Beloit, Wis., April 15 - Samuel H. Allen, a resident of Beloit for 34 years, passed away at his home on Bridge Street Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock. He had been sick for some time and his end was not unexpected. Mr. Allen was born in Conway, Mass, July 16, 1845. Coming to Beloit soon after the war he conducted a livery stable for several years in company with his father. For some years past he was employed at the Berlin machine works. He leaves a widow and three children. Wm. Allen, quarterback on the college football team, Mrs. C. A. Knill and Miss. Elizabeth J. Allen, all of this city. He was a member of the Woodman and knights of Pythias, being chancellor commander of the latter at the time of his death. The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 and the lodge will have charge. (Daily Register [Rockford, Illinois] Monday, April 15, 1901, Page 1.)
