William Russell Virts, 66, of Swanton died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Born on October 14, 1948 in Oakland, he was a son of the late William Russell Sr. and Dorothy Helen (Beeman) Virts.
He was a self-employed truck driver, having driven for over 45 years. Bill had also been the owner of a used car business for a number of years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing the guitar.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Naomi Dewitt; two brothers, James E. Virts and wife Mary of Elk Garden, WV and Allen Virts of Moorefield, WV; one sister, Margaret Coddington of Oakland; nephews, James Virts, Jr. and Jamie Riggleman and wife Rayetta; nieces, Connie Lyons and Nicole Coddington; five great nieces and nephews; and Tyler Dewitt, whom he loved like a grandson.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, September 11th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 12th at 11 AM with Pastor Mark Weeks officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland.
