William "Bill" John Acker, 86 of Elgin, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Highland Oaks in Elgin.

He was born April 2, 1929 in Geneva, Illinois, the son of Jesse and Pearl Loveless Acker.

Bill was a union electrician, a member of the IBEW local 117 for 66 years, and served as recording secretary for 32 of those years. He married the love of his life, Carolyn, to whom he was married for 65 years. He was blessed with 3 daughters and loved spending time with his family, especially his Grandson. After he retired, he volunteered at the Air Classics Museum of Aviation and enjoyed giving tours to school children. He loved flying airplanes, fishing, and watching NASCAR races.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn Burnidge Acker, his daughters, Patricia Acker, Terri (Louis) Gaudio and Tammi (Horst) Zemp, and by his grandson, Hagen Zemp.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Allen (Mary) Acker.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the memorial services at 3:30 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home 310 S. State St. Elgin, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Air Classics Museum of Aviation 44W546 US 30, Sugar Grove, IL
