Catherine Marie Plain Adored Tinton Falls grandmother who encouraged grandchildren to read, write Catherine Marie Plain, beloved mother and adored grandmother of Tinton Falls, N.J., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sept. 11, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Rd., Tinton Falls. Catherine's life will be celebrated with a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the auditorium at Town Square, Seabrook Village, 3000 Essex Rd., Tinton Falls. Catherine grew up in East Orange, N.J., and made her home in Chatham, N.J.; Morristown, N.J., and Brielle, N.J., before moving to Tinton Falls in 2003. She was a faithful member of Catholic parishes in each of her home areas. Catherine was a good friend to many, sharing her love of family, reading, bridge, sewing, knitting, sports, music, and theater. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, George; her sister, Mary Dunlop, and her parents, James and Margaret Reilly. Catherine is survived by daughter, Susan Meehan and husband Philip; sons, Bob and wife Colette, and Stephen and wife Maureen; and daughter, Lisa van Brug, and husband Cory. Nana leaves grandchildren, Michelle, Deidre, Christine, Bob, Matt, Joshua, Brian, Megan, Caitlin, Molly, Greg, Scott, and Amy, whom she always encouraged to read, write, play, and love the beach, and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves brother-in-law, John Plain, and nieces and nephews spread throughout the country. Memorial contributions in Catherine's name may be made to Meridian Hospice Neptune, the Benevolent Care Fund at Seabrook Village, or the New Jersey Repertory Theatre in Long Branch, N.J.
