Age 98, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2001, on his 98th birthday at Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waupaca. He was born on August 3, 1903, in northwest Wisconsin. He moved to Eau Claire as a young boy.
He married Marie C Goettlicher on June 15, 1925, in Appleton. She preceded him in death on February 12, 1987.
He was a semi-driver and he loved fishing and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Royal "Bud" (Norma) Alf of New London; two daughters, Phyllis Van Sambeek of Anderson, California, and Lois Bellin of Melbourne, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Alf, and a grandson, Jeffrey Alf.
A memorial service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca at a later date.
The Holly Funeral home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
