Cora Belle Mann, 90 year old Checotah resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born on Friday, January 30, 1925 to Henry Lee and Ruth Rebecca (Truelove) Ellis in Gainesville, GA. Cora came to Oklahoma and settled in the Central High area at age 13 where she attended Central High School. She married Joe Mann on Monday, April 6, 1942 in Checotah and became a wife, homemaker and mother. She worked at a sewing factory as a seamstress for several years. Later she went to work at Cedar Manor and Checotah Manor where she was the Activities Director. Cora was a member of the Rebekah’s and worked at the Oklahoma Odd Fellows Home in Checotah as a medication aide and was a bookkeeper for her family’s business. She loved sewing, quilting, bird watching, playing cards and faithfully took care of her parents. Cora was a loving mother and grandmother. Her most special thing in life was spending time loving and being with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Checotah and was saved in her mid-thirties. Cora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Mann on July 26, 1985; daughter, Bonnie Sue Mann and her brother, Hoyt Ellis.
