Born Inverness*, 1794, son of James A., farmer, and Elizabeth King; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (30th March 1816) ; ord. to Braemar 2nd May 1832; pres. by Queen Victoria 13th March, trans, and adm. 6th Aug. 1840; died 8th Nov. 1866. He had a good knowledge of medicine, and was of much service to his parishioners, who were then far removed from a doctor.
He marr. March 1826, Grace Grant (died at Dunkeld, 22nd Feb. 1887), daugh. of John Gumming, tax-man, and Jean Macpherson, and had issue.
