Violet Maxine Smith, 91, longtime resident of Lorain, passed away July 30, 2015, following a brief illness.
She was born June 13, 1924, in Preston County, West Virginia. She was a member of Believers Spoken Word Tabernacle, Sheffield Lake, and Literal Life Church of Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Her faith in God kept her with us for many years, where she was a Christian example to all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children Maxine L. (James) McKee of Amherst, Linda A. Smith of Elyria, Rebecca S. Teets of Elyria, Elizabeth "Jane" (Dana) Cornett of Saline, Michigan, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and her sister Carolyn (Paul) Eddy of Core, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Smith (2000), her son William W. Smith (2005), son-in-law Jerry Teets (2008), and her parents Leonidas Cobun and Orpha Pearl (nee Spurgeon) Collins.
Friends may call Saturday, 11 a.m., until time of service at 1 p.m., at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Brother Samuel Browning of Believers Spoken Word Tabernacle will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
