576 Squadron's Avro Lancaster (#PD403) bomber aircraft, with an aircrew of seven, took off from RAF Fiskerton on an air operation over Chemnitz, Germany. PD403 was lost near the target area, taking the lives of the entire crew.

He is also commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

And Pilot Officer Robert William Abrams is also commemorated on the Saskatchewan Virtual War Memorial. Saskatchewan's Abrams Bay is named to honour the memory and service of Pilot Officer Robert William Abrams.
