Peter Norris Pund, 73, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2015 in Bangor surrounded by his family. Peter was born in Boston, MA on June 19, 1942 to Henry Rudolph and Susan Broyles Pund. He grew up in Darien, CT where he attended grade school and then went on to graduate from Valley Forge Military Academy in PA and later the University of North Carolina State, earning his bachelor’s degree. After college Peter served with distinction in the United States Army in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant where he earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. Upon returning home Peter relocated to St. Charles, IL where he established Country Care Home Health Agency, a business he owned and operated for many years before deciding to make his way to the ocean. In 1994 Peter moved to Machias. He enjoyed the outdoors; Peter would hunt and fish whenever the opportunity would arise. Before leaving Illinois, Peter served as National Secretary for Ducks Unlimited. Peter will be remembered by his two sons, Nathan Pund and his wife Randi of Charlotte, NC and Ian Pund and his wife Megon Noble of Davis, CA; his sister, Susan Park of Boston, MA and his grandchildren, Hayden, Cameron and Alex Pund. A memorial service will be held at the Union Church of South Addison, at a later date. Per his wishes, Peter's ashes will be spread along the Maine coast as a celebration of his life and in recognition of the joy he received as a resident of this beautiful state.
