Charles M. McGhee was born about 1856 in Clinton County, PA to Thomas McGhee and Elizabeth Driesbach. His wife was Mary Miller Gordon, a widow, whom he married in 1888. She had listed her husband died about 4 yrs ago.

Charley, a four years old son of Charles McGhee, was playing on Second street, and came very near meeting with a fatal accident. A cow came along and made a plunge at the boy and knocked him down. The cow pushed one of her horns against the boys stomach, and tried to hook the other horn under the lads chin. Mrs. McGhee came running out of the house, and her screams frightened the cow away. The little child's cheek was somewhat torn by the cows horn. The city ordinance forbid the running at large, and it should be enforced.

Charles Sr. died Dec. 28, 1894 and was buried at the Highland Cemetery.

His Sufferings Over.
C. M. McGhee Expired Friday Morning.
After several days of lying between life and death, Charles M. McGhee died Friday morning at 9 o'clock. The deceased had been ill seven weeks with pneumonia, and after being seriously ill a short time partly recovered. Unfortunately he suffered a relapse and lingered for several days, continuing to grow worse until the last week his life hung on by a thread. He was 88 years old. He leaves a wife and four children. His surviving brothers and sisters are James W., of Cawker City, Kan.; R. H. of this city; Mrs. John L. Doty, of Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. M. M. Trout of Canton, Pa., and Mrs. Thomas Row, of Washington, D.C.
"Charlie," as he was familiarly called, was an individual who will be missed in this community. He was kind-hearted, courteous, honest, and ever ready to lend a helping hand. Only those who were on intimate terms of acquaintance with him knew of his struggles, of his disinclination to do wrong, and of his desire to live of rectitude. His friends will always remember him with fond recollections.

Three children of Mrs. McGhee, widow of the late Charles McGhee, East Park street, we are sorry to note, are all ill of scarlet fever. A child of Mrs. McGhee's sister, Mrs. Susan Caskey, who resides on East Bald Eagle street, and who is also a widow, is down with the same disease.
