1952 to 2001. From her love of children, Joyce enthusastically served for two decades as an officer in the PTA. Most recently, she was the President of the San Diego Unified Council of PTA's. Her leadership was best portrayed by the theme of her tenure: Rejoice! Celebrate Children!!! Children and education were her life long interests.
For three decades she also served the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 6874, championing "Cancer Research and Aid" and advocating involvement in the "Kids News" program. She treasured family and is survived by her father, Ray Reile, and sisters, Fran Cass and Dorothy Russell of San Diego, Darleen Treece of Washington, and Rayette Mayen of Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church on February 1, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to a Memorial Scholarship Fund for seniors pursuing a teaching degree and beginning their secondary education through the community college system. Donations can be sent to the San Diego Unified Scholarship Fund, 4100 Normal Street, B-7, San Diego, Calif. 92103. Featheringill Mortuary
