He married Agnes “Nessie” Boyd in 1947 and they lived in Central Park, moving to Montesano in 2009.
Nearly all of his employment was sawmill related. Ray was hired by Mayr Brothers to plan and supervise construction of their Hoquiam Mill in 1967 and managed it after its completion. He felt close to both Marzell and Werner Mayr and their families. He and Nessie built four homes, enjoyed vintage cars, traveling and cherished being together.
Ray’s life was enriched by his friend Bill, other friends, and family who remained close over the years through reunions and musical gatherings. Guitar pickin’ “Uncle Ray” and his nephews/nieces had mutual adoration.
He passed away peacefully June 7, 2015, with family at his side.
Survivors include his wife Nessie; daughter Kathryn (Don) of Colorado and son John (Kathy) of Aberdeen; five grandchildren (Dana, Janel, BeLinda, Scott, Todd), and four great-grandchildren (Minna, Lilly, Stella, Reed).
At Ray’s request, no formal funeral is planned. There will be a family gathering of remembrance at a later time.
