Gladys Marie Sapsford was born in Manistee, Michigan to Norwegian-Swedish parents Gunda and John Nelson, she was the youngest of four brothers and sisters.

She attended Michigan State and the Swedish Hospital Nursing Program in Chicago, graduating as a Registered Nurse. During WW II she was assigned as an army nurse and lieutenant to care for returning troops. After the war, Gladys moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and worked as a nurse at the University of Michigan Medical Center, and was a member of the medical team that opened one of the first Dialysis units in the country.

Prior to moving to California, Gladys spent her retirement years in Chelsea, Michigan and Florida with her husband Cyril Sapsford. She enjoyed her time with Cy, their two cats, flying the model airplanes he built, and loved playing Euchre and Pinochle.

From her first marriage to William (Tom) Aaron, she is survived by her daughters and family; Jackie and Myles Babcock of Fairfax, California, Carol Aaron and Dave Johansen of Portland, Oregon, grandchildren Rachel Babcock and Sarah and Jun Frank, great grandchildren Milo and Mina Frank.

A service was held for family and friends at the Dixon, CA National Veterans Memorial Cemetery, followed by a gathering at Gladys's dear caregiver and friend Pat's home. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Bay Area.

Gladys was a wonderful mother, loving wife and grandmother, and compassionate nurse. She always had a sparkle in her bright blue eyes, a warm sense of humor and wonderful spirit. She touched our lives with her love, and remains in our hearts.
