The New York Age, Saturday, October 25th., 1890.
"Brooklyn Briefs - (column item):
On Thursday, Oct., 16th., at 11 A.M., at 96 Clinton street, occurred the funeral of Mr. Jas. W. M. Johnson, son-in-law of the late Dr. James N. Gloucester. The service was impressively conducted by Pastor W. T. Dixon, in the presence of the family and relatives and a large number of friends. The body was committed by Undertaker S. Cook in the Gloucester plot at Greenwood Cemetery. The casket was black cloth with silver plate and handles and the floral offerings were beautiful and elaborate. In his last illness the deceased was attended by Dr. McDonald and his brother Charles C. Johnson."
