"BECKETT, Richard P. Age 80, of Hamilton died Monday, September 20, 2004, at 1:45 p.m. in Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise.

He was born in Hamilton, January 20, 1924, the son of John and Bertha (Tinney) Beckett. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School, class of 1941. He attended the University of Chicago, Miami University, University of Cincinnati and Sinclair College and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving from December, 1942 through February, 1946. He served in the European Theater and was in the D-Day Invasion.

He married Thelma Johnson on December 14, 1946 in Dunlap, Ohio and she preceded him in death on July 4, 1997.

He had been employed as an Industrial Education Teacher for 25 years in Hamilton, the Northwest District and Cincinnati Technical College, retiring in 1986.

He was a 50 year member of Hugh L. Bates Lodge #686 and the lodge education officer, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, AARP and Treasurer of High Twelve Club.

He was a lifetime servant of the church attending both First Church of God and Ross Avenue Church of God.

He is survived by his children, Joan Meadows and husband, Bruce of Cincinnati, Ginnger Beckett and Donald K. Beckett and wife, Roxane all of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Cheri Meadows, Tim Meadows, Andrew Beckett, Audra Beckett and Madisynn Beckett and one great grandchild, Michael Meadows. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Warren Earl Beckett in 1953, four brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Pastor Keith Gebhart officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park with full graveside military honors.

Visitation will be held Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hugh L. Bates Lodge will hold Masonic Services Thursday evening at 7 p.m., followed by the Scottish Rite Ring Service.

Mr. Beckett continued his generosity through organ donation to Life Center of Cincinnati. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Hamilton, 896 N. W. Washington Blvd., Hamilton, Ohio 45013."
