LEXINGTON - God's precious gift, Betty Lavonia Risinger Elkin, 71, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Born in Leesville, S.C., she was the daughter of Mary Willis Risinger and the late Henry Otis Risinger.
She was a member of the River of Life Christian Fellowship, the WCTU Evelyn Betts Union, and was a loving and giving person. She enjoyed sewing things and then giving them away.
She is survived by her daughters, Rennia Elkin of Lexington, and Annette Elkin of Columbia; ex-husband, Charlie Elkin; her mother of Lexington; grandchildren, Brian and Jonathan Elkin, Allison Lindler; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Lindler; sisters, Terris Deas of West Columbia, Marie Ouzts of Cayce, Nelda Laird of Tampa, FL; brothers, David and Dan Risinger. Mrs. Elkin was predeceased by her son, Dedrick Elkin and brother, David Risinger.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2005, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the River of Life Christian Fellowship, 3955 Southeastern Way 3-B, West Columbia, SC 29169.
