His Service Number Private/4507. He served in the 46th Battalion, Australian Inf, AIF. He was born at Somerset in England in March 1893. He enlisted at Reedy Creek in Victoria. He embarked from Australia per the "Themistecles," in 1916 for Egypt. He then embarked from Alexandria for France per the "Kinsfauns Castle," on the 8th of June 1916. He received shrapnel wounds to the abdomen in battle on the 11th of April 1917. He died of his wounds on the 14th of April 1917. George is the brother of Fred Hawker of Devonshire in England (NOK).
