ALTHAUSEN WALTER ALTHAUSEN (Age 83) Walter Althausen, who retired from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in 1986, died October 8, 2009. He died from mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Mr. Althausen, an architect, was also employed by the U.S. Department of State, and worked overseas in Vienna, Austria, Singapore, and Paris, France. Walter Althausen was a native of San Francisco, CA, and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He and his family lived in Reston, VA since 1966.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Eleonore, daughter Lisa DiNunzio, of Burke, and two grandchildren.
The memorial service will take place at 2 p.m, Friday, November 6, at the ADAMS-GREEN Funeral Home 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA. The inurnment is private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, P.O.
