Marie was born on September 13, 1917 in Mystic, Iowa to Merle and Della Shehan Dicks. She married Robert Blue on April 29, 1939 in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2011.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Vernon Blue; and by siblings, Rex Dicks, Beulah Farris, and Evelyn Metcalfe.
Marie is survived by her children; daughters, Sharon Allen of Fort Wayne, IN, and Linda (Joseph) Reiniche of Goshen, IN; son, David (Lauren) Blue of Valparaiso, IN; and daughter-in-law Nancy Blue of Gilbert, Arizona; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren ; and two great-great grandchildren.
Marie worked for sixteen years in the East Peoria grade school cafeterias, before retiring in 1981. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, devoted to her husband and children. Many people enjoyed the simple hospitality of her home and her cooking. Her gentle spirit and humble service were a testament of her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Missionary Church in East Peoria, where Marie was a member or Child Evangelism Ministries of Elkhart and LaGrange Counties.
A funeral service for Laura will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00A.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Rev. Doane Brubaker will officiate. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
