He was in Hong Kong on Christmas Day, 1941,when the Japanese attacked.
At the end of January 1942 he was sent to Stanley Civilian Internment Camp to wait out the rest of the war. During his stay he assisted prisoners in obtaining food.
He was executed near his grave site.
