L. E. Ike Eichelberger, age 87, at rest Thursday, September 24, 2015. He was the son of Lorin and Bernice Eichelberger.
Ike worked as a refrigeration technician for Commercial Refrigeration, then A & P Food Stores and co-owned Hometown Plainfield Refrigeration.
Ike joined the Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department in 1960 and became a life member in 2003, earning Fireman of the year in 1989 and became 1st Assistant Chief in 1979. Was a member of Chetek Masonic Lodge #277, Port Isabel Masonic Lodge, # 33 and former Past Master of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge # 536, a member of the Shriners Medina Temple and a lifelong member of Plainfield United Methodist Church.
Ike and Wanda enjoyed spending summers in Chetek, Wisconsin and winters in South Padre Island, Texas.
Ike will be remembered for being a very caring and loving father, grandfather and hosting Sunday morning coffee at his home.
Beloved husband of Wanda, loving father of Judith (Gary) Geistler, John (Ruth) Eichelberger, cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Kevin) Hill, Eric (Nicole) Geistler, Krista Eichelberger and Lorin (Karyn) Eichelberger, dear great-grandfather of Spencer, Kyle and Shawn Hill; Haley and Kendra Geistler, fond step-brother of the late Glen (Louise) Slote, late Edward (late Bess) Eichelberger and the late Eudora (late George) Monferdini. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son (1951).
