John J. Stavely, Jr.

ALTA LOMA — Mr. John J. Stavely, Jr. passed from this life Friday morning, September 25, 2015, in Pearland.
Born June 26, 1923 in Texas City, Mr. Stavely had been a lifelong resident of Alta Loma. He was a member of Arcadia Christian Church. John served his country proudly in the US Navy before starting a 50 year career with the Pipefitter's Local #211. He coached little league baseball for many years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Zetta Lee (Nelson) Stavely; parents, John J. Stavely, Sr. and Audrey Lillian (Locke) Stavely; brothers, Clyde F. Stavely, Tommy E. Stavely and Alex "Billy" Stavely; sisters, Omega "Mickey" Lundy and Jeanette Fondren.

Survivors include his daughter, Pam Stavely of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Stacie Holt and husband, Randal, Jeff Jones and wife, Rachel, Michael Stavely and William Stavely; great-grandchildren, Loree Holt, Clayton "Tiger" Holt and Caleb "Little Red" Jones; son, Jim Stavely and his wife, Gloria; family Jessica, Jacob, Justin and Jeremy Mettlen and Jodie and Jimmie Branch; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Terry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Roz Cleveland, Joe Dickerson, James Dudley, Reagan Gillespie, Charles Rusty Reed and Jerry Thompson. Honorary bearer will be Stacie Holt.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501. www.HayesFuneralHome.com
