Stephen, the son of Fred Joel Smith and Sandy Smith was born January 29, 1996 in Lexington County, SC. He was a 2014 graduate of Wade Hampton High School. He was attending OC Tech of Orangeburg studying to become a Registered Nurse. Stephen was predeceased by his brother Joseph Smith.

Stephen leaves, to cherish his fond memories, two sisters Stephanie Smith and Melissa Smith, two brothers Christopher Smith and David (Christina) Wingate, two nieces Mercedes Jackson and Caitlin Wingate, three nephews Matthew Wingate, Shawn Ferguson and Emmett Wingate, and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be 5 P.M. Sunday in the Sandy Run Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Paul Reid and Rev. Paul Creason, with burial in the Gooding Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton. Friends may call at the Chapel located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton, Saturday evening after 5 P.M.
