Mr. Armistead, a native of Smith County, was pronounced dead on arrival at Cookeville General Hospital on Monday, December 21, 1981. He was the son of Willie Mack Armistead and the late Sadie Hunter Armistead.
Survivors in addition to his father, include his wife Ruby Nell Armistead of Cookeville; three sons, Claude Allen Armistead, of Carthage and Willie James Armistead and Joe Armistead both of Lufkin, Texas; two daughters, Patricia Ann Maxwell of Sparta and Anna Ramsey of Cookeville; brother, Bobby Armistead of West Virginia; three sisters, Frances Migilore of Cookeville, and Ruby Winfree and Ruth Armistead, both of Carthage and seven grandchildren.
