Benjamin F.J. ''Ben'' Thrower, 68, of the 1300 block of Deep Creek Blvd., died Sept. 4, 1994, in Hampton Veterans Hospital.

Mr. Thrower was born in Norfolk County. He was a member of Gilmerton Star A.M.E.Z. Church in Chesapeake and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include three sisters, Gladys Sparrow and Daisy L. Faulk, both of Portsmouth, and Kathleen Smith of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Clyde Thrower Sr., of Chesapeake and Willie Edward Thrower of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gilmerton Star A.M.E.Z. Church by the Rev. Medis W. Cheek. Burial with military honors will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of his sister, Daisy L. Faulk, 2708 Magnolia St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service. The body will be taken to the church at noon Saturday.
