ELLA JEAN DETWILER MOORE, OFFICE MANAGER
Jean Poorbaugh Detwiler Moore, 88, a retired department store office manager, died Monday (March 24, 2003) in Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home, Clarence, after a long illness.

Mrs. Moore, a former Town of Tonawanda resident, was born in Mount Pleasant, Pa., where she graduated from high school. She moved to Buffalo in 1942 and worked as a rivet inspector at Bell Aircraft during World War II.

She was office manager at the Adam, Meldrum & Anderson department store in University Plaza, Amherst, from 1961 until she retired in 1981.

Mrs. Moore was a member of Kenilworth United Church of Christ and was a member and past president of the Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Kenilworth Marching Drill Team. She was a life member of the Town of Tonawanda Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Her first husband, Roy Detwiler, died in 1963. Her second husband, Sherman Moore, died in 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Mollie A. Bleistein of Lancaster, Catherine F. Brinkman of the Town of Tonawanda and Nora J. Hy of Alden; a son, Roy W. of Dallas; a brother, Homer Poorbaugh of Connellsville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
