Mary L. (Barr) Hinshaw, 90, of Royal Center passed away at 4:15 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born August 29, 1924 in Royal Center, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Doris (Pearson) Barr.

She was a 1942 Royal Center High School graduate. She also attended Logansport Business College.

On June 5, 1946, she married John B. Hinshaw. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2014.

Mary worked for a short time at RBM and the Golden Rule Department Store in Logansport. She was also a homemaker.

She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as the Mother Advisor for Royal Center Rainbow Girls, Worthy Matron and District Deputy for District 18. Mary was also a past Royal Center Boone Township Library board member.

Survivors include her sons, John C. Hinshaw (Patrice) of Royal Center and Michael R. Hinshaw of Greenfield, grandchildren, Dawn Sharp (Chris) of Brownsburg, Hillary Taylor (Todd) of Logansport, Noah Hinshaw (Brooke) of Clermont, Ginger Pace (Robert) of Plainfield, Illinois, Kandi Hinshaw of Avon and John D. Hinshaw of Ft. Wayne. She is also survived by 9 great grandsons and 1 great great granddaughter.

Preceded in death by brother, J.W. Barr.


Services August 28, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Richard Utterback officiating.

Visitation August 27, 2015 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Monticello.
