John Jerome Haggerty was born May 24, 1862 in New Orleans to Dennis Haggerty (1824-1890) and Mary Barry (1834-1902), both Irish immigrants. He was one of 10 siblings who lived on Market Street. His father owned a cotton pickery on 521 Orange Street. He married Delia Conroy in 1886 and resided on Chippewa Street. They had 9 children. He worked as cotton sampler at the New Orleans Cotton Exchange.
He died at Touro Infirmary on Wednesday January 27th 1937 at 12:30 P M. Funeral Took Place at The Funeral Home Of P J Donegan 839 Jackson Avenue and Catholic Mass at St. Michael's Church on Friday January 29th 1937.
It is most likely he and his wife Delia were buried at St. Patrick’s cemetery #2, (where his parents were buried) but burial records and grave location have been lost.
