Neva Maud Stinson was a daughter of J. E. Stinson and Erie Ethel Kniffen, a twin of John Fawcett Stinson. She graduated from the last graduating class of the original Wichita High School and from the first graduating class of Wichita University (originally Fairmount College.) She was a teacher and her first teaching job was at the high school in Conway Springs, KS where she met the man who was to be her husband for 64 years. She taught at Wichita High School North in 1929, the first year that school opened. At various times in her married life, she helped to supplement the family income by teaching and selling real estate and other items. She was an accomplished pianist, seamstress and cook. She died peacefully in her sleep at her farm home. Neva was the mother of Della M. Shafer, Mary Ruth Hanson, Richard C. Orr and Janice M. Orr.
