On April 25, 1935, he was united in marriage to Nellie Hannaford. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Alen Schelle (Maxine), Medicine Lodge, Kansas; Mrs. Earlene Colvin, Oakley; Mrs. Lloyd Jenik (Delma), Colby.
He spent most of his life in the Grinnell area attending grade school in rural Grinnell.
The early years of married life were spent in farming and auctioneering. He moved to Oakley in 1945 where he began work in a super market as a butcher. He worked there for 12 years.
He was baptized into Christ in the Christian church on March 30, 1953, by Don Rock. He was a faithful worker, youth sponsor and deacon while physically able.
He is survived by his wife Nellie of the home, daughters Maxine, Earlene and Delma; sisters, Sylvia Bogart, Oakley; Doris Hannaford, Gove; brother Dale Boss, Gove; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
