John W. Andreas, 61, of 709 E 15th St., Sterling, was pronounced dead on arrival at Community General Hospital Thursday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Saturday in the Melvin Funeral Home, the Rev. Jean Saltzman, pastor of the Fourth Street United Methodist Church of Sterling officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Sterling.
John Andreas was born May 28, 1911 in Sterling, the son of Eaton P. and Pearl Bishop Andreas. Mr. Andreas was educated in the Sterling schools and was a life long resident of the Sterling area. He was united in marriage to Helen Wetzell June 29, 1940 in Tampico. He was a life member of the Fourth St. United Methodist Church of Sterling.
For the past 43 years he had been employed by the National Manufacturing Company as a machinist. He was a member of the Sterling Camera Club.
Survivors include his wife Helen; two sons, John H. Andreas of West Chicago and Thomas C. Andreas of Hoffman Estates; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Virginia) Ackland of Geneseo and Cynthia Andreas at home; two brothers, Kenneth Andreas of Northridge, Calif. and George Andreas of Sterling and one sister, Mrs. Ed (Grace) Bronder of Pittsburg, Pa. There are seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Eugene.
