Raymond T. Schmit age 85 of Francis Creek, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 due to
complications of Alzheimer's.
Ray was born October 25, 1927 in Port Washington son of the late John and Isabell
(Watry) Schmit. He graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1945. On
May 5, 1951 Ray married the former Marjorie Dvorak at St. Anne Catholic Church,
Francis Creek. Ray farmed in the Town of Kossuth and drove truck for C. Harvey
Ready Mix Concrete for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Ray enjoyed spending time in his
work shop where he restored old tractors, and also enjoyed collecting toy tractors and
traveling. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and Catholic Financial Life
Chapter #86. Ray was one of the founders and past president of the Lakeshore
Snowmobile Club of Manitowoc.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Marjorie Schmit, Francis Creek; one son: John
Schmit, Francis Creek and special friend Terri LaFleur; three daughters and sons-in-law:
Jean (Robert) Vandenbusch, Gresham; JoAnn (Mark) Krejcarek, Manitowoc; Patricia
(Mark) Vondrasek, Belvidere, IL; four grandchildren: Kimberly Krejcarek, Green Bay;
Bryan Krejcarek, Mason City, IA; Katherine Vondrasek, Waukesha; Andrew Vondrasek,
Oregon, WI; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Daniel Krcma, Manitowoc; Elvira (Russell)
Wachholz, Manitowoc; Rosemary Holschbach, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law and
sister-in-law: Jack (Shirley) Haese, rural Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Norma
Krcma; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: John Holschbach; Francis (Carol) Dvorak.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic
Church, 126 South Packer Drive, Francis Creek. Rev. John Becker will celebrate the
Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends
may call on Friday at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 1124 Main Street,
Kellnersville from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A parish Prayer Service will be held at 7:30
p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville is
