PFC US ARMY WORLD WAR II
BRADFORD – Donald J. Allen, 91, passed away peacefully, October 1, 2015, at Maine Veteran's Home in Bangor. He was born in Silver Ridge, April 11, 1924, the son of John W. and Verna A. (Greaves) Allen.

Don served his country in the US Army from 1943-46, during WWII. When he was discharged from the military, he spent many years working as a woodsman in Maine. In 1965, Don moved his family to Connecticut, where he worked for Plastic Tooling, Inc. until his retirement in 1988.

Don loved being in the outdoors, he had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was a very kind and caring man, but was quick to tell a joke, as well.

Don is survived by his wife of 14 years, Betty J. (Niles) Allen; his three children, Dennis, Aaron and Brenda; his five step children, Carol, Mickey, Teddy, Galen and Penny; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 6 sisters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma F. (Hackett) Allen; stepdaughter, Wendy; five brothers and three sisters.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Maine Veteran's Home for the loving care they showed Don.

Interment with military honors will be at Oak Hill Cemetery on Lebanon Road in Winterport. (Bangor Daily News 10/6/2015 and Brookings-Smith Funeral Home)
