Albert J. "Allie" Allman Jr., 94, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 4, 2015, at St. Francis Home.

He was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Tiffin to Albert J. and Irene (Crobaugh) Allman, Sr. June 9, 1943, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, he married Jane Fleck, his wife of 72 years, who survives in Tiffin.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, of Tiffin; five children, Barbara (Greg) Bishop of Tiffin, Laura (Charlie) San Martin of San Diego, California, Douglas (Linda) Allman of Maumee, Jeffrey (Jan) Allman of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, and Sarah (John) Maclachlan of Murrieta, California; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William Allman and Robert Allman; and a granddaughter, Katie Briggs.

Allie graduated from Columbian High School in 1938 and was a 1942 graduate of The Ohio State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and attended officer training school at Notre Dame in Indiana. He was honorably discharged as a lieutenant in 1946 after service in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters in World War II.

He was employed by J.J. Fleck Egg Dye Co., was executive secretary at Tiffin Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of Floom-Fleck Wholesale Grocers and claims/office manager at United Insurance for 35 years. He was very interested in politics and was on Tiffin City Council for two terms. In earlier years, he ran for mayor of Tiffin and state representative.

He was an avid fan of Ohio State football, and Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He was an active member of the Ohio State Varsity "O," having been the manager of the swim team at OSU while he attended there. He also was a member of the Serra Club International, honorary lifetime member of Elks Club and Allen Eiry Senior Center. In 1994, he was named Outstanding Senior Citizen of Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Elks Lodge No.94 will conduct memorial services at 6:30 p.m.

His Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka and the Rev. Frank Murd con-celebrating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council
