Lewis D. Stiles, age 98, of Newark, DE passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015.

Mr. Stiles worked for DuPont Chambers Works retiring in the late 1970's. He came to Delaware 11 years ago from Penns Grove, NJ. He was an army veteran of WW II serving in the 3rd Armored Spearhead Division. Lew served his country at the invasion in Normandy landing on Omaha Beach, the Battle of Mortain, the Battle of the Bulge at Ardennes, then crossing over into Rhineland. Lew was a recipient of a Bronze Star for his service.

He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Stiles; his children, Lewis D. Stiles, III, Paul D. Stiles and Elaine Stiles Tjersland.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Eric and Amanda Tjersland, his son in law, Buddy Tjersland and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9 at 11 am at the Doherty funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek where friends may visit from 10-11 am. Burial will be in Old Bohemia Cemetery, Warwick, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
