Knut P. Nilson, well known citizen and merchant of Sycamore for many years, died at his home on North Maple street, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock after a serious illness of three weeks with angina pectoris.

He was born May 14, 1843, in Hosaby, Mjelby socken, Sweden, his father being Pehr Nilson, member of the legislature one term and state juryman by election for fourteen years until his resignation.

Mr. Nilson came to America in 1873, and after working on a farm for four years he went to Denver, Colo., and spent three years. He returned to Sycamore in 1880, and with his brother Benjamin Nilson, who died Jan. 19, 1900, he established the grocery firm of Nilson Bros., and continued in that business until 1902.

Knut Nilson and Josie Lynn were married in Chicago on April 5, 1884. Two daughters, Minnie A. a teacher in the public schools of this city, and Pearl J., wife of A. W. Jackson of DeKalb, were born to them.

The widow and daughters and two brothers and a sister in Sweden survive.

Mr. Nilson was a good husband and father and pleasant companion and friend and a valued citizen. The funeral services were from the home on Monday at 2:30 o'clock p.m., Dr. Okerstrom of the Swedish Lutheran church, of which church Mr. Nilson was a member, officiating, and the interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
