Jack was the son of John Linklater Laurence (1885-1966) & Frances Elsie Emily Fry (1893-1982).

His death notice, published 7 Nov 2014 in The Times Colonist, reads as follows:

John Fergus (Jack) Laurence (August 06, 1916 - October 29, 2014)

John Fergus Laurence (Jack) passed away peacefully on October 29, 2014 at Victoria General Hospital.

Born August 6th, 1916, in Prince George, Jack left Canada during the depression and served in the British Royal Air Force in India. He went on to become a Civil Engineer at the University of Manitoba and enjoyed a distinguished and fulfilling career designing and developing water systems in countries all over the world.

Jack is survived by his loving wife and best friend of forty-four years, Esther; his two children, Jocelyn and (names edited out for privacy); two grandchildren (names edited out for privacy); and siblings (names edited out for privacy).

Jack's optimism and enthusiasm for life touched us all.

This remarkable man will be immensely missed by family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jack at First Memorial, 1155 Fort Street in Victoria on Saturday, November 8th at 2pm.
