BENNETT – James E. “Jim” Sr., 79, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Strongstown, son of A. Smith and Eithel Stephens Bennett. Jim married Carol Fitz and later married Anne Coss. He was a retired from Ford Motor Co. Jim was a member of First Christian Church, Sandusky, Ohio, and the United States Power Squadron, Port Clinton, Ohio, where he was a past commander. He was a social member of the American Legion, Sandusky, and he enjoyed boating and hunting. He is survived by a son, James E. Bennett Jr., and wife, Karen, Marblehead, Ohio; a brother, Sam Bennett, and wife, Barb, Barberton, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Mandy Hilditch, and husband, Todd, and Cody Lenthe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Coss. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Strongstown United Methodist Church, the Rev. Denny Marshall, officiating. Interment, Pineland Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle Inc. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
