Mrs. Alma E. Hirsch, 83, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday, August 18, 1992.

She was born on February 17, 1909, in Plymouth, a daughter of the late Rev. Frederick W. and Emelie (Heyer) Beisser. She attended Plymouth area grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1927.

In 1928, she married Vern H. Fox Sr. in Plymouth. Later she was married to Oscar Hecker. On December 3, 1956, she married Earl Hirsch in Hubbard, Iowa. The couple resided in Plymouth after their marriage. Earl and Alma owned and operated the Turner Hall Tavern in Plymouth, for many years. Her husband preceded her in death on February 12, 1965.

She had been employed at the J.C. Penny Store and the Walcott Shoe Store, both in Plymouth. She also worked for the Plymouth Utilities for nine years, before retiring in 1975.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, belonged to the Willing Workers and the senior choir in the church and also taught Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include one son, Vern (Elaine) Fox Jr. of Guilford, Conn,; two granddaughters, LeAnne and Lisa, both of Guilford, Conn.; one step-son, James (Roberta) Hirsch, of Wauwatosa; one step-daughter, Mrs. Janis (Mark) Miller, of Greenfield; one sister, Mrs. Marian Rusch, of Eau Claire; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Harriet Beisser, of Plymouth and Mrs. Edith Beisser, of Sheboygan Falls and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. The Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
