Joe W. Cathey, 67, of Appleton, AR died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. A son of the late Sam Columbus and Fannie Belle McLauchlin Cathey, he was born August 15, 1937, in Brown County, Texas. He was a member of the National Rifleman's Association and First Baptist Church of Hector. He was also preceded in death by a an infant son, Johnny Wade Cathey, a brother, Sam Columbus Cathey II, and a sister, June Cathey Greenwood. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Greenwood Cathey; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Verlin Pruitt of Hector; a brother, William Audie Cathey of DeLeon, Texas; two grandchildren and a grandson-in-law: Mandy and Jeff McGee and Travis Pruitt; two nephews, five nieces and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

The body was cremated. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service.
