Harlan Palmer Davidson, of Omro, Wisconsin, age 87, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh, after a lingering illness.

Harlan was born on July 26, 1927 in Berlin, Wisconsin, to Palmer and Gertrude (Fiegel) Davidson. He was raised, educated and a devoted worker on the family farm in the Spring Lake-Berlin area.

He entered the workforce and was a proud member of UAW Local 291 while employed at "The Axle"-Rockwell International for 33 years. He rarely slowed down after retirement, continuing to use his handy-man talents, on his own projects and helping others with any task! He especially enjoyed working with metal and wood; fishing and deer camp with family and friends! Farming was forever in his blood and was evident in his fabulous gardens! Many will remember the abundance of produce to share. His hard-working hands stayed busy until his health no longer allowed. Even then, he still held on to his cheerful manner, sense of humor and humility...until the end.

In June of 1973, Harlan and his wife, of over 40 years, Cecilia (formerly Bruckbauer-VanderLoop) were married.

During these years they enjoyed travelling the country and then stayed a bit closer to home, at the cottage they built in Mountain, Wisconsin. He took great pride in being a trusted driver and a founding member of the Fox Skimmers Water Ski Club of Omro.

Harlan is survived by his wife, Cecilia (Ceil) Davidson, his son Rick Davidson, his children by marriage, Robert (Lenore) VanderLoop, Steve (Mary Jo) VanderLoop, Ann VanderLoop (Don), all of Oshkosh and Jonathan (Priscilla) VanderLoop, of Victorville, California.

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Kris Bauer, Karen Bauer, Jamie (Ricardo) VanderLoop-Taylor, Margarita (Shane) VanderLoop-Quigless, Ben and Grayson VanderLoop. He was proud to be the great-grandfather to Kennedy, Shay, Dreyton, Gabriella, Jessica, Jayden and Hadley.

Harlan is further survived by his sister Marion (the late Wayne) Krause and sister-in-law Helen Shawver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter Cheri, in 1982, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and life-long friends.

Celebration of a life well-lived will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at St.Mary's Church, 730 Madison Avenue in Omro, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Day by Day Warming Shelter or the charity of your choice .

Special heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Park View and Bethel Homes! Even though Harlan never wanted to give up his independent, do-it-yourself way of life, he sincerely appreciated all you did for him! Trust that his family will always be grateful!
