Al Bell remains dear to the hearts of many rural Iowa school children of the 50's and 60's, who enjoyed his assembly presentations in their school.
Al Bell is an Iowa legend; world traveler, educator, and documentary filmmaker. He worked at WHO radio for five years and started KIOA in Ames, Iowa, in 1948. He and his wife produced educational films based on their world travels for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Rhea Carey; Allen Bell; Becky Bell-Greenstreet; and Douglas Bell. He also had 10 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
