Tena was the daughter of Jonas Johnson and Rebecca Thompson. They immigrated in 1868. She married Benjamin E West (son of Benjamin West and Catherine Long) on 6 November 1888 in Buena Vista Co, Iowa. They were the parents of Charles Benjamin (1890), Edward J, and Leslie Earl.
STORM LAKE PILOT TRIBUNE - Fri, Feb 10, 1905 - The death of Mrs Benjamin West occurred at the family home in this city last Saturday night, Feb 4, 1905, after a painful illness with pulmonary tuberculosis.
Her maiden name was Tena Johnson and she was born in Norway April 1, 1864, coming to this country when 4 years of age. Her parents now live near Linn Grove.
On Nov 6, 1888 she was married to Benjamin West. To them three children were born, all of whom are living and who are now called upon to suffer the loss of a good mother. The West family came to this city in July 1902 and have many friends who are now extending sympathy. She was devoted to her husband and children.
The funeral was held at the Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery.
