Alice was the seventh of ten children of Jeremiah and Fanny Curtis. Her father was the owner and operator of a stage coach line, and he died in a stage coach accident when she was only seven.
Alice lived in Ukiah until she was 21, when she married Hugo King and went with him to San Francisco. Over the years they lived in other places in the Bay Area: Alameda, Berkeley, Oakland, and San Leandro. By 1960 they moved to Chico in Butte County. They had no children. Alice died at age 79 in November 1965. Her husband died just two months later.
